Forums - General - Invention vs Innovation: People will never learn to distinguish?

Every time we came to the point of arguing about invention vs innovation, we have people mixing the 2 up or simply got them wrong altogether. We have had many threads previously about this, directly and indirectly. But people seem to continue as they were or refuse to acknowledge the explanation provided by other knowledgable posters.

Is there a way to educate people to distinguish between the two?

Can we come up with an example so idiot proof that any 5 years old can understand?

Around the Network

Nintendo invents, Apple innovates, everyone else copies. Did I get that right?
If you're 5 years old you should visit Innoventions!

English is my 4th language and even I know the difference betweem them, for a native speaker it shouldn't be a problem.

Invention is making and entirely new concept or product.

Innovation is improving a concept or product to the point that it feels like its new again.

idk... that's a good set of simple yet general descriptions.
