Forums - General - Blu-Ray outsold HD-DVD 5.67 to 1 the week of the Warner announcement.

So what about the ratio of DVD sales to HD movie sales?(as in BR/HD DVD combined) Did that increase/stay the same, etc...??? Still an infinitesimal amount?

One sided fights are no fun to watch.

What, so Blu-Ray sold 5 machines and HD-DVD sold 1?

Seriously, physical discs are history. Surely Apple's new Air MacBook is a testament to this.

^^ Air MacBook?

*wipes tear from eye*

I seriously hope that was sarcasm.

HD DVD needed what saved the PR : the "PS3 ship"

Toshiba : we needed you MS !

I'm surprised HD-DVD are so commited to fighting on. If they'd been more aggressive on price a year ago, it could have made a real difference, now, the tide has really turned against them.

They still might keep going as a secondary format though.

If HD-DVD players keep selling for the next couple of years, I'd have thought studios might move from blu-ray to releasing on both.

They've always been competitive on price.  That's the main advantage that HD DVD had.  However, content > price.

Yes, but they underestimated the need to get a large base installed before the PS3 was there to start creating blu-ray consumers.  They needed to get retailer on board before that happened, and weren't agressive enough in their early days.
