I been to Ecuador :D

What's Ecuador like?

Well, my Girlfriend and I wanted to see the Galapagos Islands, we did, but we also spent about 10 days traveling all over the main land we saw Quito which is amazing, really colonial type of city with a lot of street markets, weather is like having all 4 seasons in a day, you wake up and its like a chilli spring day, I mean the sun is out yet the air is cool, by noon you feel the sun burning your face I guess this is due to the high altitude of the city, funny thing is the moment you step on shade,it starts getting chilli again, it rains almost EVERYDAY from 4pm to 6 pm, then it gets all misty and cold at nightime, great nightlife tho, and people are friendly as hell, also I ate the best bread I ever had in my life there, then the coast cities, Guayaquil, Manta and Montanita are actually quite warm compared to Quito, btw its very cheap (compared to US or Europe that is) great food and A LOT of drinking. highly recommendable.

I've been to Venezula and was amazing but both how prevelent piracy was and how ludicriously hard and expensive it was to get the real McCoys for most citizens (those in wealthy areas generally could find).

It may not be legal but in a case like this, where buying isn't an option, then morally, it's acceptable.

Sounds just like China.  If you don't give them an option to be able to afford it on their income then why the fuck would they buy it legally.  I don't condone people for piracy if they can't afford it in the first place.  What do expect them to do, sell their first born son for technology?  To me piracy is looked down on those that can afford it but choose not to.  I don't care what the people do that can't afford it.  They aren't consumers to begin with if they can't even afford it.

Okay, I want to get Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, Ghost Trick, Scribblenauts, Crash 2 and some music and movies from the iTunes Store.

Surprise, I can't, Apple is too careless to give Ecuadorian costumers those high profile Apps, not only that, but I'm thousands of miles away from a store that would give me a iTunes gift card, they will probably never come to an Ecuadorian Store and Apple won't even allow me to create a U.S. ID... I'm pretty pissed right now, why don't costumers get treated equally?

So, I could use Google and download an "Alternative" version like all my friends do, but I won't, because I'm a good person. However, I'm really considering it. If they don't give a costumer the choice to buy their products, why the hell should I care? They weren't going to get the money anyway because the don't want me to have their music, their movies and their Apps, because they lock them for a silly, immature reason beyond my comprehension.

I won't download them from an "Alternative" website... yet... but I'm getitng pissed off at Apple. Anyway, is it right-ish to "illegally" download products they won't even sell to you but you would willingly pay if they made them available in your country?

Now, for the record, the 3DS Store is the same thing, it has ZERO Ecuadorian Apps and I can't do anything. Luckily, Nintendo is not as selfish and they actually allow me to use an U.S account.

Being a good or bad person has nothing to do with whether or not you pirate music/movies.

If a homeless child steals an apple to feed his baby sister, does that make him a bad person? Stealing is wrong isn't it?

It's slightly different in this case. In your hypothetical example, an apple, stolen for one and thus deprived for another for a good reason is different than one copy of a digital thing taken for purely selfish purposes, but no harm in the taking

Let alone, in the hypotethcial example, you could likely buy an apple.

This would ne more like if you stole an apple to feed a child because the market has been ordered to not sell you any food.

As for me personally.   I wouldn't call it right... but I wouldn't condemn you or think less of you either.

I wouldn't do it myself.

I am not trying to defend Apple, but it may have to do with distribution rights in your country. Apple might not have the rights to sell it there. If they did, I'm sure they would. Apple is happy to take everyone's money.

As for getting entertainment from Illegal sources, I can't give my go ahead, but when I was in College, I did download a lot of songs and tv shows that were almost impossible to get legally at the time. But that was in 1999 when many old songs were not in print and before many Japanese shows/movies were sold outside of Japan.
