Forums - Gaming - Epic Says Next-Gen Graphics Leap Like ‘Batman Going From Adam West To Dark Knight Rises’

I watch 60's Batman. Change as of today forces us to believe, wen something new comes out, that we always needed it when it's not even necessary, and that's kind of a blunt statement but the values behind it aren't. Also... Michael Keaton!

We already have 720/PS4 level performance on the PC with some nice games to show it off. It looks better in a side by side comparison but you wouldn't notice between two games with different designs.

The extra power is better used on multi-monitor, >1080p, 3D or very high levels of AA/AF, none of which we will see on the new consoles.

Is Mark Rein right - will you be disappointed if there's not a significant graphical improvement in the Xbox 720 and PS4? Should it matter to games?

There WILL be no significant graphics improvement. The only big improvement in recent years was from SD to HD (to be true Sub-HD) graphics from the PS2/Gamecube/XBox1 to PS3/XBOX360.

With Wii U, PS4 and XBox8 there will be not such visible improvement. Even if PS4 & Xbox8 would cost 800$ it would be only the improvement from PS3 to modern HIgh-End-PC. Such expensive PC have much better hraphics quality (Anti-Alias, Full-HD, more Details etc.) shows nice graphics but the overall look is very similar to PS360 graphics. But of course, PS4/Box will not costs 800$.

Everyone who expect a gigant graphic leap will be disappointed!

Theres some people in here who obviously dont understand tech all that well.....

We have PCs right now capable of utterly demolishing current gen systems in every way. Textures, lighting, draw distance, number of AI, and AA.

A system with optomized hardware already on the market thats completly optomized for dedicated gaming would easily be as big of a jump as PS2 to PS3.......

1) pics or vid or it isn't' happening. So far I've seen nothing that demonstrates a MASSIVE leap in graphics from the best games this gen. Simply moderate upgrades.

2) meh. I don't get worked up over graphics as much. I've had just as much fun with games of every caliber. I just like playing good games, however, very pretty graphics at times can help with that environment depending on the game and its style. But I think wiiu and whatever the rest of the next-gen do will be just fine.

He's saying all this because, as a software developer, he's not on the hook for the exponential losses on hardware sales such a blackhole super console would produce.

give me xbox720 or ps4 already

Well, there would be no reason for new consoles if there was no leap in graphics, so I don't know why people think there won't be.

360 has been out for almost seven years.  In that time, graphics technology has advanced considerably.  Even with a $400 new console, the leap in performance between 360 and Durango is going to be noticeable.  Undeniably so.

it's like always, people say they don't need it except those who are called graphic whores but then when they get these graphics they don't stop to talk about it. pretty much like wii u the last weeks. many many nintendo fans who always said they don't need great graphics owning a wii and don't need ps3/360 graphics are those who talk most about the nice graphics of wii u now.

I'm still loving my 8-bit NES graphics!! In many ways I'd say that SMB3 looks better than NSMB-series ^^ and 8-bit Zelda... Maaaan! I'm 20 years innto that game :D

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
