Forums - General - Just dropped 1500 on a diamond for my engagement ring!!!

Wow... A woman doesn't need an engagement ring, period. It's just something nice to have. The wedding bands my wife and I share, which I paid for, are the only rings a man should get for his wife to be. I know society is all about being materialistic and what not, but with todays day and age and how many marriages are COMPLETE failures, the symbolism of engagement rings has lost its meaning. People don't take marriage as seriously as they did back in the day, and a huge percentage of marriages don't even take their vows seriously.

My wife got a cheap wedding. I couldn't afford the wedding of her dreams, however I have promised her I will be giving her that wedding at the 10 year mark to renew our vows. That's one thing a woman does deserve in marriage, and that's to have whatever wedding she wants, as long as it's reasonable :P. Everything else is simply materialistic and unnecessary. I'd rather spent $1,500 on a down payment for a house then on a ring that has lost a lot of its meaning.

Sucker!!!!!

I paid 300 for mine! Then again, it was on sale, but that's still a lot of scratch for a student. Congrats tho!

1500$ = Xbox360, pS3, Wii. Controlers, and few good games....

or

1500= Proof that you are serious with your girl.

MIne was 1200, but she deserved she is the best woman in the world. Congratulations man.

I got her a .70 ct. D color, SV1, Very Good cut... she will love it. I don't plan on popping the question til summer. very foolish! you guys have never had a fight? do you really even know each other? you're gonna get married and you have no idea how a fight would go? fights are a normal part of a relationship - so either your's is superfical or neither of you have opened up to one another as much as you pretend you have

i always thought: age of future wife * 1,000 USD is the price of a wedding ring?

both of her parents are still together, and so are mine... so just statistically we have a much better chance of lasting.

also the reason we have never had a fight is not because we have never disagreed... we are both very flexible people and easy to get along with. Anytime we have had any miss understandings we have talked it out in a complete calm manner and came to an understanding... we are both very willing to compromise on issues. I think that we know each extremely well for the 14 months we have been dating.

Her parents commented that we were closer, and understand each other more than they did when they were married. And they knew each other for EIGHT years before they were married(dated long distance for a long time).

I am a student, I graduate in may with a degree in finance. Money will not be an issue then. It took me 4 month to scrape enough money to get this together. I could have waited until I graduated and saved the money in 1 month, but this will mean more to her. It is worth the cost because it will be something she will cherish forever.

A ring is a SYBOL of our love. If you loved someone would you want to skimp on something that was symbolic of your love for her. I can tell her I love her... but it I bought a PS3 and a Wii then only spent 500 on a .25 c diamond ring would I be showing it?

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

best to you mate ::D
wish the best :P

Congratulations!

I hope she's the kind of person who appreciates it I'd have gone completely mental if my fiance had spent that kind of money as from my perspective it could be better spent on a house deposit, etc but he's poor and you might be loaded and already own a house for all I know!
