how many units sony ship this quarter

Looks like 1.8 according to gaf

Not sure how anyone can know that yet, they haven't broken it down in the releases.  It's 2.8 for ps3 and ps2 combined

1.8 ps3s and 1m PS2s. Seems like way to much for PS2 (assuming thats what theprof is talking about). @ vita+ psp, So because of the vita psp sales tank while vita sales do not pick up the slack, fail.

It's the 11th year in a row that Sony has reached the milestone, a notable feat. The studio jumped the $1 billion mark in foreign tickets sales earlier this month, putting it on course for one of its best years ever.

The Amazing Spider-Man is Sony's top earner of 2012, taking in $6.8 million over the weekend for a domestic total of $242.1 million (worldwide, the reboot has now grossed $654.8 million)."

So, it's not including 654m in spiderman sales, and has some pretty huge titles coming out shortly like total recall and james bond's skyfall. Both will see great box office sales.

MIB 3 is included in it though, and spiderman only has done slightly better. The other movies might make an impact though.

what,they use PS3+PS2,PSP+PSV,didn't give PS3/PS2/PSV/PSP numbers?

meh.. that way of announcing shipments sure is a bummer to people interested in sales

hopefully we'll get differentiated numbers on this page: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps3_sale_e.html , but I guess they will change it into "computer entertainment systems" and "portable entertainment systems" aswell :/

I tried to look up what the individual forecasts for PS3 and PS2 were and I'm pretty sure they were individual in the last report, but that has been changed to this combined forecast aswell..

well, as far as I remember it was 14m (combined is 16m) for PS3, so it should account for roughly 87.5% of the shipments (if PS3 and PS2 behave the same over the quarters), so individual PS3 shipments could be at ~ 2.45m for that quarter ending June

Edit:

just had a look at the shipments again and realized the PS2 behaves nothing like the PS3 in shipments, last FY Q1 even was the biggest one it had, so my calculation above is very likely false - even the in this thread mentioned 1.8m PS3 (= 1.0m PS2) might be possible

How could they predict 16 million Vitas+PSPs anyway?

Even this new 12 million number is farfetched, TBH. It'll probably reach 10 million in the next quarter.

13m

and you need to know there will be different bump level between PS3/PS2 in holiday,PS3 won't that high compared PS2 in non-holiday

have a look at the shipments http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps2_sale_e.html

holiday quarter (Q3 of Sony FY) got less and less important to PS2 shipments over the last years, while Q1 (ending June) seems to be pretty stable in performance

so, there really is no telling how the split is for PS3/PS2 this quarter
