Forums - Gaming - Vigil Games – Darksiders developers – will be working on a First Person Shooter game

Man, today we got a lot of news regarding the future projects of a lot of gaming studios. After CD Projekt RED’s multiplayer plans, it’s time to reveal Vigil Games’ next game. According to a job listing, the company is hiring a Gameplay Programmer to help design, implement, and refine the overall gameplay experience for thei next title. And that programmer must have experience working on an FPS title, meaning that Vigil’s next title will be a first person shooter.
Going into more details, the Senior Gameplay Programmer will work closely with other Art and Design leads to insure that all gameplay functionality is carried through to completion and provides an incredible player experience.
Furthermore, those interested for this position should have previously held a senior programming position on at least one shipped AAA console or PC title (preferably an FPS), and be an avid FPS gamer with strong interest in pushing the genre forward creatively.
Last but not least, they should have deep knowledge (professionally or as a gamer) of FPS mechanics and gameplay.
The big question now is – what kind of FPS game will Vigil be developing?

awww bummer I want more action adventure games not another FPS. Tho with their design philosophy maybe they will make something different than a run of the mill FPS, and do something intersting. Maybe an open world adventure FPS or something, or more likely they will be taking Randy Pitchford's advice and knock off Borderlands.

I agree with you, when mixing Vigil + FPS the idea that comes to mind is that of something colorful, like Borderlands.

Also, Vigil has 2 teams: the one that makes Darksiders and the one that was developing the canceled Warhammer MMO, which will probably be the ones in charge of this FPS game.

Please excuse my bad English.

that Warhammer game wasn't canceled, it was refactored into a non MMO, which they are presumably still working on as they couldn't afford to dump all the work. Tho they probably are the ones making an FPS.

So... if the MMO idea was canned, maybe they have turned it into an FPS game, and that's why they need someone with experience.

Maybe they should hire an ex-employee from Kaos Studios?... lol.
