Forums - Sony - Rumor: PS3-4000 skips gamescom, 16Gb Flash SKU goes cheap

My only concern with the 16GB models is... after like 4-5 games, won't they run out of space if those games require installs? They could run out of room after just 1 game depending on what the game is, and also taking an understanding that probably a good 2-3GB of that 16GB will be reserved to the system.

I can understand the cost savings, sure, but they better make sure all games in the future are capable of being run without big installs!

was thinking the same about space issues but i think sony just want to get a really cheap PS3 out there.

It's an entry level ps3 for those who want a cheaper option..like the 4gb xbox one..the difference is however you don't have to get a overpriced proprietary hard drive for this one later on

As long as its possible to put in a regular hard drive, I'm in for entry level option.
Not sure if this price will actually be that low, but any price drop is openly welcome.

$149 seems to low. I say it'll be $199.

If it's actually £99, I will buy one.

16GB... after system files that 2-4 games that require a long install.

I think/hope its fake. Would be very irritating for customers.

The last pprice cut really hurt sony...I hope they have cut significant costs on this newer, cheaper models.

Otherwise its a good move...i think current gen consoles will fade faster than older gen's. Sony is probably trying to take advantage of its current momentum which is not even that great...next years sales figures will be even worse.

I also dont see the big issue with the storage space....most games only require a 4gb install, some dont require an install at all. Dont know of a game that has over 10gb installs apart from GT5 in which case it is mostly optional. And even then this is clearly aimed at a more casual consumer. This will be an inconvenience but lets face it we have been bombarbed with inconvenience this gen from Sony, MS and publishers. People will complain but its not a deal breaker.

So yeah if they have cut costs (and i mean really cut costs which i doubt!) then good for them!
