No, not at all. Plenty of first party games to keep you entertained. And, let's not forget the third party.

he already has a 360 - his sig should have been an indicator here
btw, with online service included the 360 probably is more expensive and not "much cheaper"
Yes in my opinion it is too late, save your money an buy rather a WiiU or you wait even a little bit longer and buy in 2013/14 a real next Gen console PS4 or Xbox 720. In my opionon its now far to late to by a current gen console. Probably PS4 and Xbox 720 will have backwards compatibility so you can play the new games on them and also the games of their predecessors.
I'm a Sony fanboy plain and simple, but if you're planning to buy a PS3 just for uncharted then I'd recommend saving your money. The uncharted games are way to cinematic and streamlined. Shooting is just like any other third person shooter and the puzzles are basic with hints available so even a 5 year old kid can accomplish them. I don't know how old you are, but if you've been playing games for a while now, you'd do yourself a favor and steer clear of uncharted. Get a PS3 for MGS4, demons souls, maybe the online portion of the uncharted games, God of War, and to build up a friend list on PSN for the next generation. This way you wouldn't have to pay for a gold xbox membership solely because your friends are using it (assuming you have a gold membership right now).

Platinumed Destiny, Vanquish, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Catherine, and Metal Gear Rising. Get on my level!!
The PS4 isn't even announced yet and people are saying its too close to next gen :P
Since you want to play Uncharted 3, then go and get a PS3, if you can wait, some people have said it may be an idea to hold off until Gamescon is over, but I don't think its worth it. It's over 2 months away and then people will say wait until TGS, E3 is over, so now's the time to bite :)
And like many people have said, there are countless cheap games available for the PS3 now so its a great time to join the PS3 owners club :)

Nintendo give its customers reasons to transition to the next machine. You can use old games, you can use old controllers. Microsoft and Sony haven't been very good at that, |
I don't really think that's very fair. Historically, Sony have been better at providing backwards compatability than Nintendo (You can't play SNES games on N64, you can't play N64 games on Wii).
There are PS3's with backwards compatibility out there, if you really want one. Every single PS3 can still play PS1 games.
The problem for Sony is that the PS3's differing architecture made backwards compatibility with PS2 very hard. Early models had a whole PS2 built inside them, but I'm sure you're aware of the high-priced disaster that was the PS3's launch, so something had to give. The first thing they got rid of was the emotion engine inside the PS3 to cut costs. Whether that was fair or not will depend on your viewpoint, but from their standpoint they had to cut costs somehow.
I think since then, Sony have been a bit more money-grabby with backwards compatibility (HD Collections, downloadable PS2 games), but it depends how you look at it. Of the HD Collections I've played, I never owned them on the PS2, so playing them in HD with trophy support is a bonus - I enjoy owning them, I wouldn't buy them otherwise.
Finally, I noticed you quoted RPGManiac's list - it's a very good look at exclusives, but I feel like he's missing a few of my favourite PS3 games, so just to supplement his list a little, here's some more exclusives you should consider:
- Ratchet & Clank: (Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, A Crack in Time)
- Flow, Flower & Journey
- Fat Princess
- Starhawk
- WipEout HD Fury
- Motorstorm Pacific Rift (if you like it, try out the other two games from there)
- Modnation Racers
- Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (not out yet, though)
And of course, any of the HD Collections that you've never played before are very good choices (and pretty decent value for money given the content on offer, too.
if i take look of the Upcoming Ps3 games......yeah its maybe in 2014 too late...
