Needs major patches from the sound of it.

Now, look what we have here : a game done completely with Kinect/motion control at its core fails hard to meet basic gameplay expectation. Now the question is : - Is it, like what I thought with the Wii, a failure form the devs, not able to cope with this new technology, who need to think out of the box - Or is it the technology itself, despite everything PR, tech demo.. tried to sold us, that is failed to its core ?? I'm now enclined to the second statement. What do you think ? |
It was always the 2nd one. ALWAYS even with the WIi. the fact that Ninty had to sell a periphiral to make their Wiimote more accurate was proof of that. IMHO, i think MS and others should just stop trying, keep making those dance and fitness games. and wait until they release their better kinect. as it is right now its not working. This game looked like a disaster from the start. Anyone who thought different...well there you go

And I am not just taking his words for it, but watching him play and the game's response to him I could tell that the motion controls were not working. I have actually had similar experiences with some Wii games like Dragonball Z BT3 where the motion controls either did not work at all or just worked whenever it felt like it. This game seems no different. Its sad that such a great concept was destroyed by the kinect, we need a good mech game on the consoles. |
didnt Armored COre 5 or some such just come out??

ACV just soso, and don't know why Namco don't make it world server, pretty hard to find people play together
then again motion control today is about as advanced as touch screen where 15 years ago.... so saying it is dead imo is ludicrous....

Well if Fable Journey doesnt score above 70 on metacritic, I think its time to finally dismiss Kinect to being a casual games machine with the only core functionality being that its really convenient to voice command the LIVE marketplace and entertainment media.

i don't think Fable Journey has any diffrenet to The Gunstringer(around 80 on metacritic),and it's not hybird game like Steel Battalion
I knew kinect was going to suck when they showed it. how long has it been? 3 years? and not 1 good game has come out for it. and almost no good game has functionality with it. Other then going through the terrible 360 dashboard i never wanted kinect.
every time I see kinect only I try to imagine playing with it. steal battalion could have been a decent controller game. it didn't need the super complicated dual joysticks and stuff from the original xbox but the standard controller could have worked fine.
Kinect ruined a good game. and its sad MS is pushing the device when people are returning them and almost no kinect game has a decent review
(other then just dance not a single game is better with kinect)
A german Review, gives a 7/10

He has no issues with the control. It's difficult, sometimes frustrating, but worth a second try.

And:
Famitsu: "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor" (Xbox 360, Capcom): 9 / 8 / 8 / 8 - (33/40)
