I think fanboyism was probably born out of the mega drive/snes generation because of how the company's went at each other and how Sony entered in the console race, I think the guy must be exaggerating about people getting into fights over the systems and stuff back then, maybe the odd scrap, but he's making It sound like a free for all, things just wasn't like that back then in the golden age of gaming

In Portugal, and reading some comments in Europe at large as well, the Mega Drive was the most owned and play console of 4th generation, so I was never aware of that fierce battle that went on in the USA. But that's Nintendo's fault for despising Europe so much, which actually continued well into the 6th generation.

Granted that Nintendo of Europe was pretty lackluster at that time, I still think the majority of the market share was on the Amiga/Atari ST market at the time. Heck, the Amiga CD32, had it not been buried under so much PR stuffups, had potential to keep even Sony's PS1 out of the market there.

My daughter once said that Sonic the Hedgehog looked like fun. She suggested that we should buy it on Xbox Live. I punched her right in the face. No daughter of mine is going to be a filthy Sega lover......unless it's Dreamcast. Dreamcast is welcome in our household.

lol, while not going that far. I have refused to buy Sonic games on Wii vc/ww. :)

Funny. When I was 16 I got a seasonal job at Sears working in the game sales area. During those two months I won a Genesis with Altered Beast packed-in.

I immediately when to Target and returned it for a straight trade for SNES w/ SMW. :) best decision I ever made.

The Sega CD had few good games that I am aware of, but since they include Sonic CD, Lunar, and Ecco the Dophin, I am proud to have had one back in the day (which I still have). 

But if I had to choose between it and my Super Nintendo, that black bastard would get kicked to the curb.  As soon as it finished loading.
