lol that is what gave Call of Duty the advantage over Halo. Halo 3 was 2007 along Cod 4 if Halo 4 was 2007 or 2008 Halo would be much bigger now. Call of Duty 4 was 2007, Mw2 2009 and Black Ops 2010. Many people didnt bought Cod4 but bought the others, WaW also came out around that time, that gave Call of Duty word of mouth while people were getting tired of Halo 3. Microsoft would be smart to launch Yearly Halos, that would just give them more and more sales, just look at Call of Duty and you get the whole picture, the series isnt slowing down anytime soon, in fact Black Ops 2 will once again break records. |
Yes, from a business and sales perspective make a new game quickly does seem to work in terms of gaining fast popularity and maintaining a large core group pf fans. Though eventually some of the long time players of the game get tired of the formula. I do not care if this helps MS. As a consumer I have grown bored with Halo my 2nd favorite multiplayer shooter and CoD, my favorite multiplayer shooter. Eventually more and more people will lose interest if the games are pushed out annually. The series will climax and fall in popularity eventually.
It is a smart business plan, but that does not mean I have to like it. I want new IPs and lots of them!!!
