I ask because it doesn't seem to be doing much of anything.

Perhaps just me but it seems reminiscent of Rawanada.

Overseers stand by giving people hope, while people die.

What's the point of the threats and the condemnation if the UN is never going to intervene, isn't it ultimatly just giving the syrians more hope, emboldining them and causing them MORE deaths?

I don't know too much about the situation, and I don't think anyone here properly understands it. As far as I know, it's Islamist Occupy with AK47s fighting the government, and the government fighting back.
