Like others have said this article makes the assumption more crossplay games means fewer original games. Of course this is actually the opposite because these crossplay games will sell systems while new ips can gain popularity.

MLB didn't do well on the Vita. The PS3 version sold 400k while the Vita version sold 60k.

WipEout has crossplay, but did it do as well as the other games in the series?

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has crossplay and how did that fair?

Hahaha that's pretty good! It seems to me you forgot the Vita has sold about 2 million verse the PS3 at 50 million plus. Only about one percent of PS3 owners bought MLB while 3 percent of Vita owners have bought a physical copy. That sure shows Vita owners will buy crossplay games.

How? That's 3% even though the sales are low. Not exactly much to go on.

I don't think they are. I think there trying to strike the right balance between the 2,but only time will tell.

I feel that pay full price for both PS3 and VIta copys of the same game just to attain cross-platform play is ridiculous, but... If you had the choice to buy the PS3 version and received the Vita version for say $15 more it might be worth it.

Here's an idea how it could work:
1. You buy the new Sly Game and it comes with a code that links the game to your PSN account.
2. After entering the code, you are able to buy a DL copy of the Vita version from PSN or within the Sly game.
If you don't have internet access you would have to buy both the Vita and PS3 versions separately at full price.

What do you guys think? Would you be willing to pay for this kind of cross platform play?

Cross platform play is a good thing. With it's current install base being able to play games online against PS3 players means that you on either platform you will have a robust online experience and not the complaints about it being quiet and empty like we heard during the PS3s really barren launch period.

I don't see how anyone can think we wont get any original titles as many have made their way to the system or are announced. Especially eastern titles with a few good western ones.

A thread within a thread! Cross-Platform is a great feature. Sony can definitely take Nintendo's Download Play to the next level :)

^I guess I need to figure out when my comment on a thread is better suited to start a new thread. :)

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale has been confirmed for a dual-release for PS3/Vita. Does my point still stand or not?
