Forums - Gaming - Does anyone here use GlovePIE? It's not just for Wiimotes, you know!

OK, I realise I'm probably late to the party, but that's because my 2006-era laptop didn't have blootoof and I didn't bother doing anything about that until it refused to boot windows and I smashed it to fucking pieces against the corner of a house. Now I have a sexy new Samsung laptop and I am doing all sorts of fun shit with my WM+ thing.

So I got hold of the WM+ / IR script by lednerg, and modified it so that I am not totally annoyed when I put the Wiimote down and forget that it is now the primary mouse input. The script defines a threshold for gyro movement, and uses this to determine if the Wiimote is being used as the pointer, or to revert to your usual input method. This lednerg person did a good enough job on the WM+ part that the sensor bar is only neccessary if you're frustrated with having to double-tap a button to recalibrate the gyros, but said gyros are SO SENSITIVE that I have found myself getting pissed off while making this thread, because my Wiimote is still active via GlovePIE, and the "wmPointerWakeup" threshhold of 1.5 is not enough to resist my bashing of keyboard keys, but too much to move the pointer smoothly. I don't know how it knew to press the "back" button, but it DID. THRICE.

Please use this thread to tell me what is wrong with my script, and take the chance to point to other GlovePIE scripts for myself and others to marvel at.

Don't forget, GlovePie works with a whole bunch of stuff!
