How did SS go backward in term of lack of voice acting when no zelda games ever had voice acting in the first place? lol
IMO I couldn't care less about voice acting, I totally see the benefits, but I also like reading and imagining the voices in my head while listening to the awesome music. To me zelda is one of the forefather of gaming, for the same reason I think books should never go away I think games like this where you have to read like back in the days should never go away.
I didn't mind to much the backtracking, cause at least every time you went back somewhere, the area always felt different, but I agree with you that it would be best if they avoided this in the next game for Wii U.
To me the real problem was the hand holding. Every time you had a quest, the dousing showed you exactly where you had to go. Every time you hit a goddess cube (which most of them were not rly hard to find) the map showed you exactly where to go for the treasure. But the worst part was the gratitude crystals. In OoT you had to find 100 spiders in a huge world. All the game told you was basically ''find spiders... gl'' and you virtually had no idea where to find them. Same thing for poes and insects in TP, all you could do is explore, stay vigilant and hope to come across one (or cheat and go on the internet). All you had to do to gain all gratitude crystals was complete quests (which were not hard at all to find or complete) and find some at night with your dousing showing you their exact location. This rly removes the feel of wonder and exploration, in SS you never looked at the world wondering what else is hidden out there and where is it hidden. I literally managed to grab ALL gratitude crystal with no problem whatsoever w/o thinking even once about looking on the internet, gl doing the same thing for the poes in TP or spiders in OoT, it's almost impossible. Same thing with the heart pieces, I think I only had to look up on the internet only for 1 heart peace that I was missing. At least in SS the hand holding is not to much present when it came to puzzles :P
Other than that SS is my favorite of all zelda games, IMO it's a masterpiece. Overall it was rly well received by critics and fans. Yes allot of ppl are complaining about it, but it seems that everytime there is a new zelda game, fans love complaining about it. When WW came out it was the worst zelda ever, when TP came out it was the worst zelda ever and suddenly WW became a masterpiece, and now when it comes to SS allot of ppl are spewing hate on it and allot of ppl are starting to feel nostalgia about TP. I'm sure that in a few years, when we will all be playing a new Zelda game, with all the nostalgia the same thing that happened to WW will happen to SS. And still despite that, I think SS was better received by fans than WW and TP when they both came out.
