Skyrim developer Bethesda is still on the look out for staff to work on "future-generation consoles," but has hinted in a new job ad that the next Xbox and PlayStation will likely feature architecture built around the latest DirectX 11 APIs.
"Bethesda Game Studios is looking for experienced programmers to work on cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles," reads the listing on Gamasutra.
Among the applicant requirements listed are "at least 5 years of game development experience with multiple titles shipped," and "extensive experience programming and optimizing for the Xbox 360 and PS3," while experience with DirectX 11 is considered "a plus".
DirectX 11 unlocks next-gen visual techniques in compatible video cards, and is quickly establishing itself as the standard on PC with support retro-fitted for numerous titles and confirmed for upcoming games such as Crysis 3, Max Payne 3 and Black Ops 2.
Numerous recent Orbis/PlayStation 4 and Durango/Xbox 720 rumours have claimed that both Sony and Microsoft are developing consoles, with PC-like architecture designed to make the most of DirectX 11, with Bethesda appearing to concur.
