To wrap up our week of Halo 4 multiplayer coverage, we wanted to speak directly about our experience with the game. While on the cover story trip visiting 343 Industries we had a blast playing a couple of multiplayer matches with the developers. There is a lot of new information to process, and we hope this feature serves as a sufficient summary on what to expect when you get your hands on the game this fall. Watch the video below to see Game Informer editors Matt Miller and Bryan Vore share their thoughts on the changes to multiplayer in Halo 4 with associate editor Kyle Hilliard.

I don't know how I didn't see that at first but you are right.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Yeah, it slapped me in the face right when I saw it - just like the Elite armor looking like Theron Guards back when those scans were released. I'm not sure how to feel about it as I love the traditional design of the Elite and Grunt armor. But I can totally see how these designs sit more perfectly into the atmosphere and lore that 343 is trying to bring to the franchise.

I'm also kinda disappointed that they want to make Halo "more grown-up'. Part of the fun of Halo (to me personally) was that it didn't take itself too seriously, while also presenting a pretty rich story and beautifully balanced and fluid gameplay. For some reason when a game takes itself too seriously I tend to take it less seriously. Maybe it's the uncanny valley, maybe it's just poor attempts at being serious by the devs, or maybe it's a mix of both plus something else. Heck, it could just be me being overly critical when a game goes from being about fun to trying to be something more. Who knows? I mean, just look at the story in the latter half of Halo 3 - it was pretty abysmal IMO. Things that were being built up from the first two games came to a close but it just felt like "Oh, that was it? I knew it was coming but at least they could've made it more interesting or memorable" (like the Prophet being killed by the arbiter, and the deaths of Johnson/343 Guilty Spark). ODST on the other hand had characters with memorable lines/actions and distinct characters - simply because they delivered their lines as if they were having a good time. Then we got Reach which, while presented more aptly, was pretty boring and stale to me.

I fear Halo 4 will suffer the same fate for me by being too serious. It's weird because Halo 1 had distinct moments of trying to be serious too (Keyes grotesque flood form, Cortana warning Chief of Halo's true intent), but the way they were presented weren't overly melodramatic. They got to the point and that gave them impact. I guess dragging on scenes with major plot points just hurts their impact for me.

You make good points but like your Halo CE example, maybe 343 will be able to do it in a similar fashion. I'm pretty shallow with what I want from games and I like the idea of grunts not being these stupid little kid characters that are sqeeking all over the place saying stupid shit. I'm no Halo lore expert but I'm pretty sure I remember somewhere in the novels that the grunts were mean bastards so I welcome the change.

I saw these posted over on Gametrailers.

While nothing new picture wise, I still have to say DAMN! Even just reading about Chief's armor and the Grunt's new "look" gets me pumped up for this game, thanks again Nsanity!

Chief looks even more awesome than in previous games I have to admit, they've convinced me with the new look.

Master Chief is the SEX!!!
