A price cut at this point will be the biggest mistake sony makes...price is not the main issue here. The vita is not priced at absurd levels like the PS3 was at launch. The system has a good price...games and accessories are quite pricey but affordable given the target market. Sony needs to come out strong at E3 showing good support for the VITA. Im not just talking about announcing a million games...but announcing games that will genuinely interest people and get people to the see the value in the system.

No. The Vita will NOT match or beat the PSP sales. It will be gone/replaced within 3-5 years.

I get why you say gone as in "dead".

But what do you mean replaced? If the Vita(aka PSP2) fails, then you think Sony would launch a PSP3?

Vita just needs the big software to come out.. Gta, call of duty, gran turismo, final fantasy, metal gear solid etc. if combined with a price cut the vita WILL match the 3ds in weekly sales. Everyone was laughing at the 3ds when it was in the same situation as the vita is currently in and they both had the same problems. Lack of killer software and a high price point.

People shouldn't be surprised at how the vita is doing. Nowadays the price is such a big factor. When the price cut and software roll in, we will look back at these threads and laugh.

I'm looking at this post right now and laughing.

Wii U Nintendo Network ID, Borode

XBOX Live ID, Borode

You know what Sony really needs is that PS Suite thing they announced a while back. Imagine if the Vita had access to the most popular Android apps and games? Many of which are free...this is what could really differentiate if from the 3DS. Smartphones aren't Sony's enemy, they should be friends.

A price cut for Vita won't do much in the long run. What it really needs is the games that aren't available anywhere else(especially the 3DS). Console ports and multiplats won't do much.

They will always have some form of a Playstation gaming device that is portable. (look for my smartphone playstation thread)

What the ANY CONSOLE needs above everything else is compelling exclusive games and a lot of them.

I think a price-cut, big titles and like you said, Android support all at once is what the Vita needs.

As long as it's marketed right. Let consumers know about the excellent library, let consumers know about android support and then tell them how cheap it is.

COD bundles will give it a huge sales boost!

I feel Nintendo dominate the handheld business because the majority of the demographic of handheld gamers are children to college students. I don't think many 25-35 year old males who own a house and work full-time would want to buy a console and a handheld. Sony should really back out of the handheld business and losing to the Wii brand was the biggest mistake that it made. The Playstation 2 dominated for good reason because Sony makes really good hardware for consoles. Nintendo's really specialty is attracting the younger demographic and this is why it has a strong grip on the handheld market.

Good Hardware?  The PS1 was probably the weakest console that generation, the PS2 was the third weakest power wise, and the PS3 was actually tied with the Xbox 360.  Also, I've had more PS1s have issues on me than N64 or Gamecube consoles.   Wii vs PS3/Xbox 360 is irrelevent, since the wii gets a lot less hot obviously so it doesn't suffer from overheating issues as does the PS3/Xbox 360.  People want to insult Microsoft for RROD yet they ignore the tons of PS3 consoles with terrible blu-ray drives that tend to fail quickly.
