But it is really sad to base your knowledge on a Bad translated passage that gives no true evidence of its purpose. It is really usual the phenomenon of the abuse of Hellenic History and Cultural Inheritance. But it seems we're a really small country to react effectively. The Macedonians didn't speek the Greek Language??? For gods sake man, this is absolutely ridiculus. And far more ridiculus, is the fact that tribes and ethnic groups that settled in the northern borders of Macedonia 1200 years later, to claim this Great Inheritance for themselves. Pathetic for a nation that still is desperately searching for its identity (Tito stole it from them you know...) |
You both miss the point. One it was more then one book, i could look up a number if I wanted. Which, uless unlike every other langauge Greek has remained virtually unchanged since ancient times i'm more willing to believe different idependent sources.
The Macedonians ARE your ancestors. Some of your ancestors anyway. That doesn't make them Greeks politicaly.
Despite being a group of city states, the ancient greeks quite knew there were similarties among themselves that were different compared to the likes of people like the Persians and Hannibal, they saw the Macedonians as different as well.
Compare the Britons and the French. Both have ancessotories with the franks. Neither saw any brotherhood with each other beacuse of their mutual hatred, nor did they see the connections that combine them. The English were not french, and the French were not english, nor did they hold each other in any higher regard. They did not see each other as franks... becuase there were no franks before. They were now the English and the French (aside from the local tribes mixed in and such.)
Both were Franks, and are now different.
The Hellenistic people rejected the Macedonians and during the time period were not seen as greeks. Just how the English and French no longer aknowledged a brotherhood.
Those who were the dorians were now split. Between Macedonian and Greek. The greek themselves being split by their city states. (Of course i would also argue the Macedonians likely assimilated local cultures already there since evidence does show life there that predated any sort of greek movement into the area. This likely led to the problem.)
Just how the Franks and other germanic tribes have split to form a number of europeon countries.
Under the romans the macedonians merged together, just how these seperate germanic states are slowly beggining to reassimilate due to the EU.
