Forums - General - Anonymous and the "great internet blackout 2012"

First off, let me start by saying that this is awful.  I need my interwebz to live, and if this awful collection of fucks takes it down for a Saturday, I am going to shit bricks.   These tossers (British vulgarity for the win) have gone on for too long, they must be stopped.  I have precious few hours away from work (I am still at work at 7PM EST with no end in sight) to rot my brain with the gloriousness of the webz and I need to utilize every second of that time.  Killing the internet on Saturday would suck.

That said, I dont think that they can do it.  Actually, I think that if they do, the NSA will just finally move in on them and send them packing to Guantanamo for a 5 year vacation with all the cock meat sandwiches that they can eat.  Anyone think that they can pull this off?  Anyone think that they should?  If you agree with Anonymous, please post your full name, address, and place of work/education.  No real reason for any of this info, definitely won't be forwarding it to the CIA or anything.

If any of you are involved in this idiotic group, shame on you.  Do something productive with your life like me, drink beer and yell at the tvTubes.

Ugh, I am starting to hate this group. That act like little baby's! If something that they don't like is going on then they have to go and ruin it for EVERYONE ELSE. They are purely a nuisance.

I don't agree with all groups of Anonymous, but I say more power to them :)

I agree, but I'll have to plan on going outside if this happens.

Going after the drug cartel, going after businesses that are harrassing innocent people, going after child pornographers, animal beaters, attacking nazis, going after internet predators... yeah these guys are a big nuisance

I don't understand how this helps any of their causes. Killing off the websites that support the things they are against and/or putting out private emails, etc about these companies or persons seems far better tactics. Additionally, they won't piss off innocent people.

Gramps, they also do bad things. They're kind of like PETA. PETA is for a good cause but they can be really stupid, that's what this group is acting like.

Well if that was all they were doing then it would not be a nuisance. But I think you know that they are. Some people do other things than just surf the web and post in forums. They contact people out of town, work, etc. So if they do take down the interwebz then it will be unnacceptable.

Those are all bad examples. Something like credit card's not working would be a better example. Since those things can easily be put off for a day

Anonymous is the umbrella term for the whole organization. It is unfair to categorize them all at once since the group is so diverse. It would be like calling all white people racist just because the KKK is full of white people
