I'm confused, is there some sort of US law that Hasbro Execs are enforcing that's stopping them from making it? If it was being developed in some other country like Sweden would this be a problem?

The problem is liability. Even if they could win a court battle, or should win one, the massive expense and disruption to do so would ruin their lives. The US court system is not at all friendly to single individuals on largely untested legal ground vs. major listed corporations.

Yes, if they lived outside the US it would be easier to carry on just because Hasbro couldn't practically get you punished.

That's so frustratingly annoying.

Surely there must be some talented Europeans willing to become devs to finish off the project? Mane6 could just provide some guidence to them so the final product turns out similar to their own vision.

It's their baby. I think they would rather no one had it if they can't finish it. They've also shown exceptional compliance with the C&D thus far; they seem to want to respect Hasbro's wishes more than any legal requirement and that would include allowing the project to continue de facto out of reach.

But they have to appease my selfish needs...

The thing I definitely respected about the project was not giving in to any fan ideas or demands. They knew the product they wanted to make, and it didn't have to line up with anyone's idea of what it should be except their own. (For example, I'd like the controls to be accessible but they went for hardcore fighter style).
