It's not sequential, the order you watch it doesn't matter at all. There's nothing to "keep up" with.

You should just give watching a couple of episodes a try, just so that you can say that you saw it and have an informed opinion on how much you enjoyed/didn't enjoy watching it :P

Yeah you should have just said that. If you like it, it's pretty much guaranteed that would happen.
Speaking of which, how did you guys all get to watching MLP?
My story began when my friends and I were talking about all the "Bronies" that seemed to be around the internet (particularly TeamLiquid), and were wondering if they were actually serious, or just trolling. I told them that I'd watch 3 episodes that evening and report back on whether it could be considered a decent show in any respect.
...By the next day I'd already watched 6 episodes and had watched the entirity of season 1 by the end of the week xD (I think I made a thread on VGC about it somewhere along the line)

TV on the hub, after i had noticed the internet uproar for some time. I wasn't convinced, but it was on TV so i might as well have tried it.

I saw perpetual pony threads on /b/ . I don't really post on or enjoy /b/, I just checked it a few times around March 2011 and eventually I realised that the pony threads were referencing a show and not just some pony meme. I searched for some reviews.
Then I got linked to this by one of them:

And it was just so amazing I knew I had to give the show a chance. I didn't 'get' the pilot the first time but my second attempt was Green Isn't Your Colour and then I realised it was an intelligent character drama as well. And I still care much more for the show's music and the fanmusic than the show itself.
I made this thread last year but there weren't enough VGC people to make a thread then.
