Oh man... First reactions, as usual, which means they're still just as disjointed and jumbled as ever.
So there were some really awkward poses in this episode. Seriously, the whole Lyra sitting pony thing was cool all of one time. Anyway, that's probably my biggest gripe with the episode, which overall was very enjoyable.
Luna stole the show. I'm not sure if that's because of her role, or because she's Luna. Maybe a bit of both. I got all excited when I caught a glimpse of her earlier in the episode and I spent the rest of the time waiting for her to show up.
I was afraid I'd end up not liking Rainbow Dash much after this one, but the end proved me wrong. The whole Rainbow Dash/Scootaloo thing has been beaten to death by the fandom, but damn if that ending wasn't adorable...
I love Rarity, but poor Sweetie Belle... She's so enthusiastic about being with Rarity that she doesn't care about being Rarity's pack mule. Sweetie Belle is still best CMC. I wish they had used Michelle Creber (Sweetie Belle singing voice, in case anyone doesn't know) for the song, though. I get that it was intended to be annoying, but Sweetie Belle is supposed to be a really talented singer.
At first, I thought that Scootaloo's debut was going to be a crazy pony episode, after the first night of camping when she woke up and reminded me of Twi from Lesson Zero. Glad that wasn't the case. I'm not sure where this episode sits in my rankings, but it is definitely one of the better ones.
