This one was satisfyingly average. What I mean by that, is that I was entertained while watching it, but I wasn't blown away.

I feel like Pinkie Pie has become a caricature of herself, with all of the silly words and gags. Still, there were moments in the episode that I did enjoy.

What happened, Twilight? You just said that you couldn't tell any of the Pinkies apart because they all acted the same. Then you found one who didn't act the same, and didn't claim to be the real one. I get that she might want more confirmation, but it'd make sense to keep a very close eye on the one Pinkie Pie that was acting differently.

Talk about a deus ex machina. That book felt like a cheap cop out to solving the problem... but I suppose that's a problem I have to live with when there's only 21 minutes to resolve everything. Also, did anyone else expect something more significant to happen involving the hidden compartment of the library? They took the time to show us that, rather than just having the book be on a random shelf. It felt like that should have meant more than it did.

I was happy to see Fluttershy's bear back again, as well as Dash reading Daring Do.

Solid episode, but nothing super special. As commented above, I don't understand why Twilight didn't sense that something was different about the Pinkie that was depressed - it's not like Pinkie normally has only one emotion. The concept was good (Pinkie clones), but the way that the problem was resolved was a bit rushed, imo (and what's with that hidden compartment in the bookshelf?)

I agree in part. Twilight seemed to have completely lost her head for a while. Although i think part of the point of the episode was to play with the idea of Pinkie Pie being a caricature of herself, showing that when it gets down to it, she's fairly sane and competent (her idea to find the old mirror and invoke the old magic after all, and about 75% her solution to the problem). The clones were shallow, she was not.

What i really think, here, is that this is another episode that they could have set up a much better Aesop than they did, up there with "Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" and "Mysterious Mare Do Well."

Also worth noting that this was a new writer. At least i'm pretty sure it was.

I should clarify. By a caricature, I am referring specifically to her gags. Stuff like her mixing words together excessively (seriously, how many times did she do that in this episode?), or the party canon from episode 1. Those felt forced and awkward, rather than genuine. And I am concerned that they will continue to throw stuff like that in, either because Pinkie has done it before and people liked it (party canon), or take a gag and beat it to death (the silly words).

Stand corrected.

Some good episodes, though.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It was ok.

My biggest gripe was Andrea Libman broke out of her Pinkie voice into her Fluttershy voice at least 4 times.

Twilight is still my least favorite. Season 3 so far is not helping me change my view of her at all.

The replicas were weird overall. They were Pinkie Pie yet weren't, as Khan Put it, shallow.. What kind of copies was this pond spewing out? What kind of replica remembers certain thing but not others? Pinkie knows EVERYBODY but her clones couldn't remember names... but they remember that they like fun?

Also, the first clone seemed very intelligent, compared to the following clones. I dunno. Maybe a clone of a clone of a clone becomes more and more inferior. Just like xerox copy of a copy of a copy of a copy becomes less clearer.

On the bright side, this episode gave us some good shipping... and I don't even like shipping...
