Speaking of the 'using facts from the show vs making stuff up', are there any episodes you wish weren't in canon?

For mine I'd say Baby Cakes, because unicorns doing high-power magic and pegasi having complete mastery of flight from birth removes a lot of depth from the show, and weakens episode premises involving learning about oneself.

I think they made it clear from Baby Cakes that the bursts of ability the babies showed were just a short-term thing, something that would vanish before they got too much older, which is supported by the need for flight camp or how Sweetie Belle pretty much never uses magic.

I think like Yoshiya here: that explanation doesn't justify the extent of what happened in the episode.

Re: Luna, I think the alicorns are just too overpowered to be normal people or relate to them. Demigods don't go to local festivals. The episode itself wasn't bad and I don't think they could have done a better job with its plot given that.

Don't you feel as if there's some sort of inherent tragedy in there or something? The suffering of being separate from all others.

Luna could give up her power if she wanted and it would be OK.

Indications are that they both could, really. Hearth's Warming Eve set up the idea that it was normal unicorns (unicorn leaders, but "normal" nonetheless) who were regulating day and night. They are (to a point, gotta love The Worf Effect) good guardians against evil, but ultimately replaceable.

I don't know how many of you watch Arby and the Chief, but the conclusion of this episode was unexpected considering I'd genearlly say the target audience for this series would be anti-ponies
