Forums - Politics - Monarchy. Is it bad?

i belive that every kind of politic leadership has something bad about it.

Its .. for some people... "evil", if one Guy or Gal has the most Power, but i also think that democracy kinda sucks, because every idiot has an opinion that may matter.

the only thing i really dislike is Censorship and tyranny of any kind, but other than that... nah

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

Monarchy is as good/bad as the monarch currently rulling. Every country had their fair share of both cattegories ;)

Democracy was supposed to save us from the bad ones but it failed at that.

Australia has glowing economic indicators because it has vast mineral deposits and a relatively low population count,

How is the UK (or any western monarchy today) a monarchy in the traditional sense ? When was the last time the Queen made any major politcal or economic decision for her country huh? Afaik most western monarchies are merely representational these days, but then again I don't claim to have any greater knowledge on this topic, as I'm not interested in politics.

Monarchies are frowned upon because it's almost entirely up to one person or people close to him/her (see China in the past) to decide things and if these few happen to be nutjobs the country is screwed. And just because somebody was a great leader doesn't mean his/her children are aswell, so it seems unreasonable (to me) to make the first born of that person the new leader just like that.

But ofcourse there are several advantages, like the ability to make quick and potentially risky decisions.

I'll say this: Denmark, Norway and Sweden are all Constitutional monarchies and they ALL rank high in UN statistics in best countries to live in... Being a monarchy isn't bad in it self - it's how the country is ruled!

This is from Wikipedia regarding Sweden:
"In 2010, it ranked fourth in the world in The Economist's Democracy Index and ninth in the United Nations' Human Development Index. In 2010, the World Economic Forum ranked Sweden as the second most competitive country in the world, after Switzerland.[14] According to the UN, it has the third lowest infant mortality rate in the world. Sweden also has the lowest Gini coefficient of all countries (0.23) which makes Sweden the most equal country on earth in terms of economic division."

This can be corrected by choosing your successor - like the Romans did for a period of time! These emperors were known as the Five Good Emperors, starting with Nerva in 96, and ending with Marcus Aurelius in 180 - that's almost 100 years of good goverment (which can't be said of most democratic countries)!

Just to keep things clear, there are only 5 absolute monarchies left today: Morocco, Swaziland, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, and Brunei

Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Britain, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra (to an extent), Monaco, Liechtenstein, Lesotho, Oman, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Thailand, Cambodia, Tonga, and Japan have varying extents of constitutionality

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I like fascism more than anything.  The democracies we have today aren't really democracies.  They are really just controlled by private business so they might as well be fascist.  At least then they would have enough balls to state what they really are.

i think Monarchy can be good or can be bad..that depends on how people adapt the situation

I think Monarchy can be good or bad. That depends on how people adapt ruling their lives and in the area they belong
