Because wired doesn't eat batteries. Actually if all the consoles had wired versions of their controllers thats what I'd be using.

The wire is a pain! I get jumping around and swinging around and that wire slaps me in the face. Or my youngest son comes and sits in my lap, sitting ON the wire, which does restrict movement, especially while playing RRR2.
And to think, I didn't think the wire was a problem either for the first few months of Wii ownership. I laughed at my friend who complained about it.
after over a year of owner ship and a lot of playing, it has never even factored in..
I get up and actively play, I've had my niece sit in my lap etc I've never been cut short and I have long arms..
Wires also never factored in prior systems despite my having a LARGE room as a child. I'm talking 18' x 18' I guess it's just a preference thing..
