Forums - Sony - PS3 save file help please

Hello fellow Charterz

i recently had my 60Gb brake and just had it fixed, i brought a new 160GB model and want to know the best way to transfer the save data over?

i have new save data saved on the 160GB though and i dont want to loose that by connecting them together!

if i sign up to PS+ i can save data in the cloud is that right? if so how does it work? can i save it up on 1 PS3 and then download it on the new one? do i need to have Ps+ forever from signing up or il lose the save data?

basically how does it work? i was going to jsut sign up for 3 months, upload then download the saves then not renew PS+, can i do that?

Around the Network

anyone? :(

If you mean copy-locked saves then using PS+ for only 3 months and using cloud saves will work. Otherwise just use a USB memory stick to manually transfer saves over.

yes, game saves.

if i do it with a memory stick it will mean i will no longer be able to collect trophies from those saves :(

As long as you're using the same PSN account you'll be good.  I manually saved all my non-copy protected saves to a USB stick, then I got a new PS3 and just copied them onto it, same PSN account.  No problems getting trophies on games I continued on with, no problems with a few copy-protected saves I transfered via cloud either.

oh cool! how do i know if there copy protected?

so i can just sign up to PS+ and transfer them and then not bother with PS+ anymore? fantastic! thanks :D
