Forums - Sony - God of War IV: Surprise Characters?

Ok so first let me start by apologize in advance for any grammatical errors. I'm not that good at it and won't pretend to be.

So as most of you should know Kratos was introduced as an exclusive character in the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat (2011). I haven't personally played it yet but I intend to. Anyways when you komplete (fail pun) the story mode with Kratos in the ending the narrator talks about how Kratos had saved earthrealm. And as he started to get pulled back to his own world (Olympus) Raiden and some other guy came up to him and bowed down to him. they mentioned that they owe him (kratos) a debt of gratitude. the last sentences of the narrator was "Their (Raiden & Fujin)  change of heart would perhaps prove useful one day. A debt of gratitude is often dearly paid."

Here is the video Skip to 0:50

So what does all this mean? Well I was thinking and thought about how cool it would be if the narrator was hinting at some surprise appearance in the new yet to be released God of War III sequel. Think about it. maybe somewhere down the road in God of War IV kratos encounters someone or something and can't handle without some sort of aid...That's where Raiden and Fujin come in. Imagine them coming through a portal at a time when Kratos is at his most vulerable and them ultimately saving his life!

What do you guys think about my 'find'???

No.
Mortal Kombat characters are fictional and not very well known. They are also kinda cheesy.

Raiden and Fujin wouldn't make sense in God of War IV. If they do make an appearance it means Santa Monica ran out of ideas for the game and they're just milking it.

My excitment is geared more towards a simple yet powerful presence in the game for example: have them invlolved in a way where it wouldn't be too obvious for people who have no idea about kratos in Mortal kombat. but like in inside reference in the game referring to the debt they owe him of course. whats wrong with them being fictional? it's not like it's a non-fiction game. what characters aren't fictional nowadays? your telling me there's a real mario out there saving a princess from and over sized turtle with spikes on his back? while I agree with SOME characters being cheesy Raiden isn't one of them he looks legit.

This post is ridiculous ... im surprised nobody has commented on it.

MK characters not well know? MK is a very established IP with more than 30 million( thats without other games to old to track) pieces of software sold, the latest MK sold is near 3 Mill second or third best selling fighter. Waaaay more presence than GoW( movies animated show). MK fictional!? so is GoW and every other video game.

No VGKing there were angry gods killing other gods in the past, no talking status ext.

hmm that could explain multiplayer in GoW IV, co-op the legal ramifications could be too tangled a mess.
Besides making Mortal Kombat an official part of the GoW cannon would be super weird.

Yes, God of War is fictional as well, but its based on legendary myths, unlike Mortal Kombat which is completely made up stuff.
I like Mortal Kombat, I own the reboot and I know the characters, they just don't fit in the God of War universe. I don't want them there just like Mortal Kombat faithful didn't want Kratos in Mortal Kombat.

Anyway, on PS3, God of War has a bigger presence than Mortal Kombat. Just look at sales.

Mortal Kombat HD(PS3) - 1.55m
Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe(PS3) - 1.52m
Total - 3.07m

God of War 3 - 4.30m
God of War Collection - 2.46m
God of War Origins Collection - 0.30m
God of War Trilogy - 0.12m
Total - 7.17m

God of War 3 alone outsold the Mortal Kombat games on PS3! Hell a collection of PS2 games outsold the MK reboot! Now that's the power of Kratos!

Fun Fact: Based on VgChartz data, God of War games on PS3 stand at 7.17m which is more than all the PS2 Mortal Kombat games which stand at 6.21m. That's really impressive since the PS3 install base is so much lower than that of the PS2!

typical SONY fan to cherry pick games to meet help his agenda. You specifically said MK was not wll known. I completely dispute that claim then you cut it down to SONY consoles. That was not your original claim.

if you like God of War.  you will love Darksiders II coming out june 2012.  I don't know why people overlook this game. Watch the below video.

Totally agree with you xxain. The truth is, no matter how you (VGKing) tunnel your view of how software sells correlate with console owners, you still have look at the history of the fanbase each franchise and its quite obvious that at this point there are more people that are aware of the MK franchise and its characters over the GOW franchise. With that point aside I feel that you are free to feel how you want to feel about not including MK characters to the next GOW game, but just because you don't want it to happen doesn't mean you have to lie or come up with this false logic to prove a point. Personally i wouldn't mind either if they included those characters or not. Honestly i feel that if they did included some essential characters like Raiden(as mentioned earlier) in a tasteful manner then it could provide for a larger fanbase for both franchises in the future.

BTW- ficition is fiction no matter how you put it.
