Epic Game's Mark Rein has told journalists and developers at this years DICE Summit that the next generation Unreal Engine 4 is currently up and running on "systems we can't name yet." One thing we do know is that Epic was behind the Japanese-Garden Wii U Demo; it wouldn't be surprising if the engine is up and running on the Wii U.

But they say it's running on systems they can't name yet, so I doubt it's running on the Wii U.

Did ninpie say the garden statement or did the writer of that article?

the article.

" Today the engine runs on PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS, Android, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation Vita and even in web browsers using Flash... oh, and *laughter* some platforms we are not allowed to mention by name yet. Soon we'll be unveiling the amazing Unreal Engine 4."

So yeah...nothing said about UE4 running on any system.
Another quote taken out of context by gaming journalists.

Why wouldn't it be running on the Wii U or the inevitable upcoming MS and Sony Consoles? It would make sense if it did.

I'm not saying it won't run on the next gen consoles. I have no doubt it will.

I'm just saying that people are claiming he said something he did not say.

Realistically, being that Epic would (probably) be one of the first 3 outside companies to get any information about an unreleased system and they would (probably) port a new engine to any system that can handle it, the Wii U, PS4 and "XBox 720" probably all run the Unreal Engine 4; and, while the Wii U probably still has many NDAs that prevent discussion about specifics, I'm certain he is just implying that Sony and Microsoft's next systems run the Unreal 4 engine.

Next gen systems of course!

It's kind of up in the air at this point if the WiiU will be able to run Unreal Engine 4. If it does, then I'm sure it scales very well with what hardware it's running on.

I do recall awhile ago that Epic said they weren't even sure if next-gen consoles will even be powerful enough to handle Unreal Engine 4. I wonder just how much of a difference Unreal Engine 4 will look compared to the updated Unreal Engine 3.

Also, what picture is that from in the OP?

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!
