Exactly - people are acting like you have to throw out your PSP once you buy a Vita.

Or the fact that the majority of the PSP's game library is on PSN, most being under $20.

In Japan a recent study even suggested that backward compatibility was the number one requested feature from a new console.



So, um... yeah. This was mildly surprising...

Japan has the UMDtoPSN program though.

I think mainly Sony wants to encourage new PSP/Vita game sales in the west, but it is an easy way to get more money for games people already bought so I don't completely understand the decision.
