8.2M shipped 360s

18M install base Kinect

$4.24B revenue (up 15% YoY)

$528M profit in E and D

8.2m is great for X360 this Q, 18m shipped (not install base, they use the same lingo for 360 66m) is okay for Kinect, expected a little more at this point.

$528m profit is very poor imo, down yoy.

From  slide deck for the conference call.

8.2M consoles sold, up over 25% Y/Y

Kinect installed base now at 18M units

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Ballmer only bumped it up a bit - probably including January orders he shouldn't have but what the hell I'll forgive him a sneaky 200k.

Also guess this clarifies the obvious fact he was talking about shippments and not sold to consumer (unless I'm being really dumb and missing something - in which case I'll soon know about it...)

Pretty damn impresive quarter - best one yest for 360 am I right?  Most of the boost seems to have come from US so it seems safe to say unless the Wii U manages to put a dent in it the 360 stands a good chance of really hoovering up further marketshare and overtaking the Wii in US eventually assuming it can get another big holiday under its belt ('cause I'm expecting it to sell even weaker during the first part of 2012 than 2011 unless it sees a price cut).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

You also noticed that the official press release did not mentioned anything about the 360 being the worlds best selling console last year.  I am sure during the Q&A it will come up but isnt that something they would want to brag about.

they never talk about this in Earnings Release

well just one more week to know

OK, now I admit PS3 won 2011. Congratulations to SONY, but still feel excited about the achievement of 360 in 2011.

very poor....?  dont you start.

it ISNT JUST xbox... remember that.  Lots of spend on marketing windows mobile... the link up with Nokia, skype... etc etc.

360 revenue is up...so  you can bet their profits were up on the 360 and associated too.

I just expected them to balance it a bit better, all those extra 360's sold and profit is still down. I hope they think Windows Phone is worth it!

Regardless of all that, this has been a great quater overall for Microsoft and EDD, you can't sniff at making a profit these days, no matter how much it is.

Great quarter but it seems pretty obvious with data we have that they stuffed the channels. Down in US during December, down in France last year, down in Switzerland, down in Japan etc. Next quarter shipments will be interesting. Of course they could prove me wrong but currently it doesn't seem that probable. Also profits for Entertainment and Devices Division are rather low. If I remember right this division included WP (?) Maybe they are ramping of the marketing and developing of WP and it eats money. Overall of course monster quarter for MS like usual. Nothing new to see really. It's nice for profits to have almost absolute domination in OS market... It would be nice to have more competition.
