they will with a price-cut
They never said PS3 redesign of 2009 was PS3 SLIM.
they can do this with fabrication reduction and power supply outside but they won't take out psu as it looks bad outside

I believe the proper term for it is Fit. PS3 Fit. Thus confusing moms into buying PS3 instead of Wii Fit.

mostly not
360 redesign was only there last year
also note that 360 power supply is already outside and still its that big so it is very big
Also 360 is already very cheap(in manufacuring cost) so they don't need much change in fabrication

i agree, then never said it was the slim. it was 'Playstation 3' then 'PS3' next will be PS3 Slim.
yeh i think they will take the power supply out.
Itb kewl but id rather see color ps3s here in america. Why havnt they done that? The ps2 silver sold well thats when i bought one.. come on sony.. grrr :)
They should. Would help boost up sales. They could make it REALLY small too if they put the Cell B.E., RSX, and XDR RAM on 1 heatspreader like they did with the PS2 slim (version 15 of that console lol) and like MS did with the 360. But I doubt they would, the development costs would not be worth it. But it WOULD cut power a lot, allowing them to put a smaller integrated PSU in it and slim it down a lot more (the newest PS2 slim has an integrated PSU, they know how to make them REALLY small)

Nope. The current chasis design is designed for a 65nm RSX and 45nm Cell with a 250w PSU. With the second gen slim (CECH-2100a/b) they cut the RSX down to 40nm. With CECH-3000a/b (160GB and 320GB models) they cut the PSU down to 230w, made the fan smaller, and removed some other power draining sources (such as the lights on the front of the console). They chasis hasn't changed at all even though power consumption has dipped a ton since the original slim. Power consumption when playing games has gone down by almost 10w since the original 120GB slim. And with an integrated Cell+RSX they could cut it down even more. And Sony takes heat seriously, the PS2 slim never overheats and it has the smallest fan I've even seen (when I tore one apart). PS3 slim rarely overheats unless filled with dust and it has a 3.2GHz Cell that pours out heat and an RSX based off a crap design that also pours out heat. And it has a big SLOW fan (which is why its so quiet). They ain't gonna do a first gen X360 mistake where they just plop a fan at the back and slap 2 puny heatsinks over the CPU and GPU and hope it works.
In fact, look at this heat system:

The slim has a genious cooling design that uses 1 fan for the chips and PSU.
The fatty has an epic system as well, although its confusing:

Thats only the heasink for the RSX and Cell, its the best picture I could find. That doesn't even include the huge fan or PSU cooling system.
