i heard the nes (famicom) was still selling in Japan in 2002
PS2 is dead dude. Hasn't had a good game made for it since Persona 4 in December 2008. Only other games it's gotten in the past 2 years is sports games. I give credit to Sony for living up to the 10 year plan though, PS2 is the best of all time...but its gone now.
And also the PSP is pretty much dead already (5 games over 80 metascore in 2011, none over 88)...and I'm guessing 2012 won't be any kinder on it, especially with all the big games going to Vita and 3DS.
I would pretty much already consider them down to just 2 (PS3 and Vita)...but if you want to get technical then yes they do have 4 consoles on the go, two of which don't get good games anymore.
If it still sells, it'll be on the market.
Demands. Demands. Demands.
The real achievement comes when they have 5, can the PS2 last 2 more years though? It's shipments are finally dying down and PSP is pretty low for this FY (6m) when the Vita is only in the west for 1 month of that.
No, this has happened every time a gaming company has both a console and a portable, and then they launch both new consoles at a similar time frame. Nintendo has had 4 different consoles on the market 3 different times already; soon to be 4 once Wii U is released.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Sony:
PS2, PSP, PSP GO, PS3, PS Vita, Playstation Phone. (Sony has at least 5 seperate gaming platforms as the PSP go is well...)

At one time Sega was supporting the Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Gear, Sega CD, Sega 32X, and Saturn in various places around the world. That's six seperat game platforms if you count the expansions and four if you don't. I count the Sega CD and 32X because the games were seperate and Sega marketed it as whole new systems. It probably contributed to their downfall since it costs so much to maintain all those factories. Even the glorious Dreamcast couldn't dig them out of the hole they got themselves into.

I don't consider the PSP and PSP Go seperate platforms. But I don't consider the DS DSi and DSi XL seperat either. PS Phone is debatable. I wouldn't count Windows Phone 7 as a Microsoft platform along with Xbox 360 even though it plays games too.
The way I see it Sony has 4, Nintendo has 3, and Microsoft has 1.
