Forums - General - My comic, Variables

Hey guys, some of you might be wondering where I've been for the past 18 months or so... Well, I've been working on a comic book. Yes, the ultimate critic has thrown his hat in the creative ring... anyway, there are about 50 pages up now and it's just kind of getting rolling. I'm trying to do two updates a week now (but I fail pretty hard at it) so the progress is still slow going. I do the writing, drawing, coloring, and lettering myself.

You're an incredible artist. Hope you don't mind me asking: Why do the text boxes all have two colored squares at the end of each dialogue?

It's just a style thing in this particular story (I don't use it in any others). It represents the journal the main character is writing in and the coin he picks up in the beginning of the story, which book-ends the two issue arc.

Thanks, Rath! Putting this thing together has been a lot of work over the past year.

I used to read Variables every Monday! I got a little bit into issue #2 and decided to wait for the pages to build up. Guess now is a great time to catch up on my reading.....

Every Monday? Damn, when's the last time you checked the comic? I don't think I've updated on Mondays for about six months.

Exactly.  I probably read a couple of pages of the second issue and then I just stopped.  Looks like you've been extremely busy, though.

Yeah, I have the original story stalled out and I became really frustrated with how the comic was moving along. So I scrapped the 1992 arc for a few months while I worked on the 2002 arc. Once I finish the first issue of 2002, I will return to the 1992 arc and finish it, which has been shortened from 80 pages to about 64. Originally, it was four issues but I condensed everything into a third issue.
