Forums - Sony - The heck, PS3 DMC4 requires 25 min hard drive installation?!

Perhaps. He/she is entitled to his/her opinion but instead of trying to look at this objectively he/she just comes across like some pompous troll.

You, I and others in this thread have tried to talk some type of sense in to him/her but apparently there is really no more to say. We're just wasting net space fighting a futile battle. Some people just don't want to listen to rational advice.

Some might not want to listen to rational advice, but this thread hasn't seen that.

People (GGE) are complaining that the console world is starting to turn into the PC world and have installs/patches as well as space management. The best thing about console games was the pick-up-and-play aspect of it. She's not happy that this is changing... so even though there are ways to have many games installed by upgrading to a bigger HDD, or uninstalling the game once you'Re done with it, it doesn't change anything about the current problem on hand.

If McDonald's decided to serve the food cold so it can be a bit cheaper and faster to serve people, would you think it's a good idea? Sure, you can go home and put it in the microwave, but doesn't that kind of defeat the whole purpose of fast food?

Dont' forget Spiderman 3 Famine.

Yes, the blockbuster that is Spider-Man 3. I wonder if people find it burdensome to delete the game's game data.

Real question is, how many people actually still play a game after beating it that falls between "Craptastic" and "Mediocre"?

the point was that its not just Capcom's problem as you claimed.

The funniest thing is only people who don't own a PS3 bitch about this meaningless stuff... 5 gb? It's not a big deal, seriously... I like the idea. Faster loadings are welcome. Always.

Is here any PS3 owner (20 gb sku maybe) who will boycott Capcom because of this mandatory installation?

A small price to pay for a superior version of a triple A title. The PS3 needs more of the regardless of a 1 time 25 min install. I personally have no problem with it and like the fact that there will be no load times.

I didn't say this was just Capcom's problem, I said:

"When there will be more games beating PS3 owners like Capcom is doing with DMC4...."

Even with your Spider-Man 3 point, the installation is nowhere near 25 minutes, nor does it take up 5GBs.

Again, if other developers have made the install optional for most PS3 games then I see no reason why Capcom couldn't have made the install optional.

PS3 owners will love the game regardless.
But I still don't this download time. I thought BR had more memory space!
I Know some have tried to explain this but sorry, I still don't get it.

Can I assume and tell people that the graphics will be better on PS3 due to this? or run smoother?
If not, then it is a nuisance. But it's no big deal guys.

I don't think the graphics are better because of this. (1up mentioned better graphics but not because of this initial install). I believe its just to make the game seamless with no loading. I think the best option would be to give an option to install it. I know that some people really won't like waiting for it. But I ask you, is it really any different than downloading a huge patch for a game? I jumped in NFS:ProStreet the other day and was greeted with a 750mb patch. Didn't bother me too much, but still.

The game was originally built for the ps3, so there has to be a reason that we do not know yet. I always prefer to buy games on the console it was originally developed for. I will not buy it on my 360. I am not bashing the 360 version, but for some reason despite the problematic idea of the install it is being said that the ps3 version is stated t be better in a few ways. This is just rumors being made by the developers. Despite the variations of the games running factor of each system I hope it proves to be phenominal on both systems.

Actually, it was originally built for the PC http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50341

Ok 5gb install on PS3 for DMC4 is not the problem. From my humble opinion the problem is for the unfinished games that publisher are pushing to the consumer who they pay for A LOT OF money. The internet is a good thing about console gaming BUT patches are not to be tolerated in gaming in general. The same argument is made here about installation files in gaming console IF a HHD was in all SKU and not optional both the 360 and Ps3 then there wouldn't be any concerns about an installation file on a game in general BUT it is injustice to the other consumers that do not have HHD to their consoles.

That is a simple argument that i understand from what GGE said. Now i believe it's just playing dump if a developer find an easier way to avoid extra work and money with a simple installation command than to program for another 2 or 3 months to fully make it compatible with the ps3 version.

Thats the bad part of the multiformat games that being published. If a game is ready in one version they just can't wait to be a perfect port on all formats. The Wii has a fair amount of that games that are CRAP ports of Ps2 games in general.

So lets wait and see if the install files to play the game right continues on Ps3 and then lets blame the machine and not the developers.

Yes, it is kind of funny that Blu-Ray brags about extra space but you can't avoid issues like this. Oh well.
