Forums - General - Martial Arts movies

Ok, so lately i have really been "in to" martial art flicks.  I think i have seen almost all the jet li movies (even the  foreign language ones, which are great) and the Bruce Lee movies.  I have seen some others (crouching tiger, house of flying daggers etc.)

Question for Discussion:  What are some of the great kung fu flicks out there?  Some of the more experienced fans please list some of your favs and I will netflix them.  Thanks.

i recently saw "the crow" with brandon lee. what a fucking awesome movie.

anything with jackie chan is good too :)

Almost anything with Donnie Yen. Watch Dragon Tiger Gate.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

If you like Jet Li, go and find "Once Upon A Time In China". There are 3 parts to them and they are all better than the films he has released in the US.

You've definitely got to throw in some Jackie Chan. For a few titles, check out Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, Operation Condor, and both of the Drunken Master films.

Iron Monkey, with Donnie Yen, shouldn't be too hard to find and is quite entertaining as well.

There is also a Jet Li/ Jackie Chan film coming out soon called The Forbidden Kingdom. Could be good especially with Woo-ping Yuen involved.

Have you seen the Jet Li film 'The Legend' about Fong Sai Yuk? Certainly my favourite martial arts movie, the sequal isn't bad either.

I saw this sequence from a film called 'The Protecter' earlier that I thought was pretty good, mainly because the extremely long steadycam shot is so different from the 1 second long shots normally used in martial arts movies.

It has some good action scenes (especially the big one), but The Protector is so exceedingly odd that I found it difficult to enjoy. And I'm usually one to enjoy odd movies. I think Ong-Bak is a bit more watchable, though again not great. Tony Jaa may be a great martial artist, but he is totally lacking in charisma.
