The mass of people do not want extreame edition gaming in a console platform. That is for the crazy niche of computer gamers who buy the latest video cards the minute they come out and build new PC's every two years. The mass of people buy handhelds for price, portability, and game selection.

1 out of every 3 people who buy a handheld disagrees with you.

So you are saying that people who buy the PSP don't care for game selection?

Being I can play almost every Nintendo game ever made on it, I would say game selection had a lot to do with wanting an "extreame edition gaming in a console platform" ;)

Oh, I forgot... I can play all the Atari, Sega and PS1 games too.

It really does suck having all the power of the PSP... I should have gotten something far less advanced.

Even though it wasn't as big as the DS the psp was a hit with consumers. They probably will release a psp2 but i hope they hold off on that for at least 2 more years since i believe the psp still has a lot of life left in it. Also, i hope that it is a little smaller and has 2 analogs.

no need for a psp2 yet
a psp2 is only relevant if the can coorporate some real new functions in it
not just some small upgrades, but a signnificant multi-media upgrade
software sales aren't grand so that will play in the developers minds
but i think the future of the psp is being a gaming gadget

psp sales are already enough for a second psp imo.

if sony knows how to time, design and realise a portable game, music, internet and in the maybe near furture televison device
it could be a great option versus the mobile phone platforms that have a much smaller screen

''Hadouken!''

I do hope there is a PSP 2 but i'm afraid that Sony would be the only company who will release games on the platform as unless they implement some hardy anti-hacking protocols they will never win back the 3rd party support!

Its a shame as its not Sony who is to blame for the lackluster Software totals, its the consumer that is too cheap to buy the actual games instead of getting them illegally!

tv and internet on your phone is just not doing it right on such a small screen
a psp could give you your music, a better view on the internet, an much better vision of movies and television, and real quality games
but about those games
the question is how developors will react
but sony really must wait until it can come up with a significant evolution for the psp

I would want Sony to think long and hard before they even considered bringing out a PSP2 as if they rush into it and bring out a new one but with only increased graphics etc then i think Nintendo would wipe the floor with them again.

I do hand it over to the PSP as it has sold half as many as the DS has and thats quite a feat for any non-Ninty handheld that has been released :D

I think it does. Look back to the beginning of handheld history. We have Nintendo dominating everything since then. The fact that the PSP is selling this well against the DS is actually (at least to me) very impressive. I believe that Sony will make a PSP2.
