There are many things that we'll be thankful for this Thursday, but Gears of War 3 fans will most definitely thanking Epic Games for the free Versus Booster Map Pack, which adds five new maps to the game's Versus mode. It's actually part of a promotion for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and there's another bonus in store for those fans who are willing to complete an impossible mission of their own.
Beat back the Locust hordes in the game's Campaign mode on Insane difficulty before Christmas Day, December 25, to unlock a Mission: Impossible-themed weapon skin pack, a press release confirms. You'll actually need to also watch the Ghost Protocol trailer -- presumably as an Xbox Live Marketplace download -- but that's not nearly as challenging as saving an entire planet.. If you've already tackled the play part of this challenge, then just watch the trailer and relax. You won without even knowing it.
There's a bigger contest kicking off on November 24 as well that you'll be able to sign up for on Xbox Live. The skins pack will be e-delivered to your Gears 3 profile on December 31.
