You also have to remember:
In desktop computers the GPU in the APU is pretty much limited by the ram. So there is no real reason to put a strong GPU in it (the GPUs in the A10 still are totally ram-limited in most cases).

For consoles you can design the GPU around the available ram (that's also one point you may change in your opening posts: just because all rumored GPUs use GDDR5 that doesn't mean anything on the matter which kind of ram the consoles will use. There's no real problem using DDR3 if you have a large enough bus width).
AMD could design a special GPU for PS4s APU which can be a lot more powerful than the 7660D. Ram in in PCs is (usually) limited to dual channel, but in a console you can run as many ram chips parallel as you want.

That's means my B option...

B) The A10 APU is not a 7660D... it's anything new.

I agree the APU have to be way better than 7660D.

Everything you wrote is completely false, everything. On technical level, on design level, on price level, on AMD capabilitie's level. Amazing.

Please explain. I'm eager to learn :)

Why, this thread might as well have been in Chinese, for all I understand of it. XD

lol, I added ">" and "<" type simplicity, just for non tech related folks. :)

In my opinion the problem is that only few people here really understand how (computer) hardware works. And most of them don't post a lot in this thread.

I saw some serious flaws in the opening posts a few month back, and hence registered on this site in order to help as much as I can. But I'm not really an expert, and I apparently have real problems to understand how ram works (wikipedia doesn't help much, and I honestly don't know where to find basic information about it).

superchunk, non of any sourse said nextbox will use A10 btw

A few months back they were rumored to have switced from IBM to x86 and likely AMD solution.

Literally a week or so ago it was  rumor relating directly to the higher end APUs.

Few months back?IBM to X86?eh...that rumor was talking about Intel CPU until few days ago another rumor said it change to AMD FX

None of the are APU

Actually its been an AMD 8core CPU. Just look back a couple of threads. Plus folks of GAF (not random people) discussed that it is a APU being considered as well and the early dev kits are not going to be identical hardware as they do a lot of emulation of the GPU until its finalized.

Essentially early on has a major CPU to overcompensate and emulation of target performance.
