Forums - Gaming - The Future of a BG&E Sequel May be Contingent Upon Success of Rayman: Origins

Rayman Origins is a test game! I wouldn't be surprised, if Wii owners had to pick up the slack for HD console owners.

And just like with Sonic, HD console owners will get rewarded while Wii owners will be out of luck. No Sonic Generations for Wii, really unbelievable. I guess someone will point out that the Wii got Sonic Colors last year, but it's obvious that Sonic Generations was a bigger project for Sega and also one that they took more seriously.

Wii version sold the worst, who's picking up the slack now eh?

Sure as soon as they start selling it on PSN for 10-15$ ;)

Hmm didn't see this thread before.

Not going to buy Rayman just because I want a Beyond Good & Evil 2, seems like a cheap way of getting people to buy your game.

Well I guess we're not getting the sequel.

The only logical explanation I forsee is that the development team doesn't the money for BG&E2 so they want people to buy Rayman to fund them. Cheap? You bet, but it make sense to some extent.

...On the other hand, as big as Ubisoft is, they should have the money for another game no matter how Rayman does, so they're probably trying to just nickle-and-dime us.

Ubisoft is almost as bad as Crapcom nowadays. That being said, the appallingly low sales for Rayman Origins makes me lose faith in the average gamer and the thought that this will prevent the release of Beyond Good and Evil 2 is simply disheartening.

It's not my fault!  I actually planned on buying it before they even mentioned this "Buy this if you want that..." bullshit.  It's just that, for some reason, they decided it was best to release this game around Christmas when people were buying the 3DS and its games, Sonic Generations, Skyward Sword, and all of the other biggest and best games of the year.  Rayman is no doubt a good game but it's still a $60 2D platformer.  And they lowered the price before I even got a chance to buy it!!

One has to wonder what the heck Ubi was thinking with the timing on this one.

After trying the Ps3 demo I can say, just NO. This, or they are simply incompetent.

I don't blame Ubisoft, it was a 2D platformer released on holidays, and a critically acclaimed one too, and the notion 2D platformers should be cheaper is a stupid industry standard that should have never existed.

I fully blame the current western audience in general, people no longer like these types of game anymore, it is not a AAA cinematic experience, it is a charming, kiddy looking game, and that unfortunately is no longer enough for many people.

I am planning to get the game, I couldn't afford it on december, but I will get it since it looks like a beautiful and very fun game.

People there is no need to get heated up its Ubisoft they're gonna make the game anyways, but i do believe this is a bad way to market Rayman: Origins among the hardcore audience.
