Forums - Gaming - Sonic Generations Review Thread! Lets see how Sonic's Latest Adventure Fare's

Closing Comments
It feels refreshing to be able to say that Sonic is good again. His upward trajectory over the last year continues and he’s only gaining momentum. Sonic Generations is largely a game for the most hardcore of Sonic fans, but for the millions who have fond memories of narrowly dodging spikes, grinding on rails, or even that time he was a pinball, Sonic Generations is a game made for you.

Editor(s) note: Initially, we set out to review Sonic Generations from two different perspectives, with Jack focusing on the modern Sonic sections and Brian focusing on the old school sections. But the more we played, the more we both realized that the two sides of Sonic come together as a much more cohesive package than we initially realized, leading to us to come to almost exact conclusions.
IGN Ratings for Sonic Generations (PS3)
Rating Description
out of 10 Click here for ratings guide
8.5 Presentation
An awesome interactive hub world, and a story that, while inconsequential, is enjoyable. The Sonics have a great dynamic.
8.5 Graphics
Looks great in motion, the best looking version of the game. Framerate issues still pop up somewhat regularly.
7.0 Sound
Hit or miss soundtrack, but cool remixes. Improved voice acting (everyone is 70% less annoying). The sound effects are all spot on.
8.5 Gameplay
Two great types of levels, both awesome examples of Sonic at his finest. The boss battles are weak though.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
Relatively short campaign, but a metric f---ton of unlockables, and motivation to replay every level.
8.5
OVERALL
Great

I know IGN gave the PC version an 8.5! It has been doing good in other places as well!

While game is the same and experience is mostly the same, the difference in visuals between console and PC version is massive. Makes me believe IGN didn't play the PC version.

Actually, using FRAPS I recorded a part of the green hill zone on the PC with setting maxed out. I'll upload it to youtube and post to compare with console version in the next few days just for shits and giggles...
