While I must admit that I find accidents like this funny, I wonder where all the hate against modern art in this thread is coming from. Why is it making you so aggressive? Why so narrow minded? If you were an artist, wouldn't you feel compelled to make something that kicks people out of their comfort zone?
There will always be good art and bad art, and I totally agree that artists can be annoying in their eagerness to do something provocative, if that's their only incentive. But art can be more than just glossy fan paintings of tropical video game scenery. IMO the art lies not only in the craft, but in the idea. And if it makes people think and discuss, it may already have served its purpose. Like the "canned shit" somebody posted: it's a strong statement, self ironic and offensive at the same time. Don't say you could have done it too - that's not the point, because you DIDN'T do it!! Egg of Columbus, man.

I'd like to add that I don't know much about modern art. But the "one less piece of shit in this world" comments are upsetting me. In earlier centuries those would have been the people with pitchforks and torches.

You see, there is a kind of artists that see the nature abnormally and interpret it in the light of ephemeral theories under the strabic suggestion of rebel schools that arise here and there as pimples of our culture of excesses. They are the spawn of the fatigue and the sadism of our times of decadency, really.

What arguments? I've yet to see a single one. Bashing something and saying it's 'junk' isn't an argument. So try harder, if that's not too mind-bending for you.

This is a good point. Seems to me like there's a lot of jealousy coming from some of the posters on this thread.

Honestly, I'm not surprised you're not capable of defending your position. If you were capable of constructing compelling arguments, you wouldn't be holding this position in the first place.

Tough luck dude. You will somehow have to deal with the fact a lot of people don't consider genitals on the cross, shit in the can or other briliant creations as art.

This artists work is not that bad being that it is at least aesthetically pleasing, but a large portion of modern art is meaningless junk thrown together by shallow people with no talent that appeals to shallow people who desperately want to feel like they’re part of the cultural elite.

I would generally not have a problem with this if these artists were being funded privately but, being that the government funds terrible artists to produce trendy modern art garbage that is so poor quality that even shallow "cultural elite" types have no interest in it, I get annoyed when it is government funded and low quality.

I don't see why you compare this creation with those. I also don't care what people who are unable to form a coherent opinion think.
