Forums - Gaming - New study shows kids are avid gamers!

So we all knew that children love video games. I remember playing games as early as three when I believe I completed my first game. But what about today's generation are they playing games as much as we did growing up. Well a new report from Common Sense Media a non-profit organization has found that over 50% of American children 8 and under have played video games. This is a huge exposure rate but the study goes further in depth!

Think that a little over 50% is impressive for 8 and under wait till you here how young they actually start. 44% of children between the ages of two and four years old have played video games, that is actually what is dragging down the numbers. A whopping 81% of children five to eight years old have played video games.

Well I started gaming at 3 and guess what the average age of a child to begin gaming is actually almost 4 years old. Meaning I was consistent with today's average age of losing their game virginity.

So how about consistency we can see that all these kids are exposed to gaming but how many go hardcore? Well the answer is about 17% play video games each and every day. But don't be too worried and cry its not over a good 36% of children five to eight actually play at least once a week.

So fear not for the next generation for they are finding the path of mushrooms and shot guns just fine. May the TriForce be with them! What do you think are these numbers encouraging or disappointing?
