"Last book I read was Brokeback Mountain, I just don't have the patience for them unless it's softcore porn."

In the bags are they alive?!

I am from brazil, so this is very common here.

There are spiders that can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Also, the biopiracy is really big in amazon.

[Off-Topic]
99% of the plants and products of amazon are patented by foreign companies. Even some traditional foods and medicines have to pay royalties to foreign countries to produce here.
We were one of the first western countries to have a ecological think. We have laws that preserve the nature dated back on XIX century, while the rest of the world destroyed their forests because of greed. Now all the world depends on amazon for the advance of pharmacy.

So, just to make sure, please never attack my country for the errors of yours

Here in Mexico we have a similar problem. Lost of endemic plants have been patented by transnational properties. I think that companies shouldn't be able to patent live beings that haven't been genetically modified by them

How the Hell do you patent a plant! International law or mexican law? Congrats on passing 1,000!

The World Bank controls all this.

The world bank impose various difficults to developing countries to patent their own plants.

So, we have for example a soda here called "Guarana", that was created by brazilians. But Coca-Cola was able to patent the fruit.

Another example is Viagra. It's basically composed by a plant of amazon that indiginous people used for centuries. The effects are know by a good time to scientists. But was patented by a pharmaceutic company. It is now one of the most valuable brands of the world.

The problem is that Viagra is also a very important medicine used for hypertension(not called viagra in this case, but it is the same thing). And a pilul that cost $0.10 to make now sells for tens of dollars...

Man the custom must really hate those guys. Just imagine your about to check a case and you see hundreds of spiders. I shiver.
