Atheists (in this context non-believers) are by definition more logical because if religious people would think logically, they would not be religious.

In an atheist's context I can understand. I still don't agree, though.

To be honest i think anyone who believes in God cant be right in the head. You have to be pretty stupid to believe in the whole thing really. Religion is the cause for all the trouble in this world, especially Muslims.

You call believers stupid, then you go ahead and parrot a fallacious statement.

Raised a Muslim, became an agnostic/skeptic from 12 to 17, and I'm now a more devout Muslim.

And for anyone wondering, as I said before, on the topic of evolution I believe in theistic evolution, and I also support the big bang theory.

What made you change you mind? (skeptic ---> devout)

Strong atheist here with an active disbelief in the God of the Judeo-Christian variety since, by its own definition, it can not possibly exist. In terms of broader philosophical views I would describe my personal views as rational egoism (of the Randian variety), and my political views are best described as anarcho-capitalist.

As a side note, I don't like how the poll lumps together atheists and agnostics. Most atheists I have encountered (including myself) have strong beliefs regarding this subject which are, typically, supported by reason. Agnostics have just as much in common with Christians as they do atheists which is nothing. A Christian holds a viewpoint (an irrational one in my eyes but it is still a firm belief) and an atheist argues for just one side as well ... agnostics are not in a transition to theism or atheism they are not an inbetween answer either. I always saw agnosticism as a part of a nihilistic world view.

Based on my experience...I beg to differ. Now don't get me wrong, I've also met many unreasonable religious nuts, but to say atheists are the more logical people is the biggest fallacy I've heard.

I guess you got me there. I should have qualified it further by saying just atheists I have met in person and maybe a few online who seem consistently rational. I can't even say there is a cut off point (like saying atheists in the 20th century were nuts ... communists and ect. but 21st century variety is different since, while not nearly as irrational as communists, there are hordes of idiots out there who, aside from their atheism, are insane regarding virtually every other aspect of their worldviews).

To be totally honest here, I am not what you would call a militant atheist. If someone brings up a religious argument I will not let it slide without a response, but I would not actively go out in an attempt to convert people. I am far more concerned about a person's political views, and when I reach a person on that level I am satisfied ... their personal religious views are their business as far as I am concerned, but I certaintly would sleep a little better at night if their entire outlook was enlightened by reason.

In regards to the poll, I find it interesting that over half have responded as atheist/agonstic/freethinker ... I just wish, as I said before, that the atheist / agnostic category was split up so we could get a better idea of where people stand.

Well there (especially the underlined) I agree.

Quite a number of things, but two important ones of them are:

- Witnessing an exorcism that has no logical or scientific explanation (sure, I've come across some interesting theories, but I have yet to see anything that truly matches what I saw).

- Doing my own research on history, science, and their relation with Islam.

I don't think I'm gonna get to see something like that lol

But I think I might do my own in-deapth research someday (graduating this year yay) - - - I know a real lot about Islam already, just not enough to make a final judgement - - - The stuff I do know really makes a weak argument for it but I haven't really explored it all so it's not fair to judge just yet

Thanks for answering by the way :)
