So let me know if I have this right-- the game is still a broken mess, the game will continue to be a broken mess until late 2012, and they want people to start paying for it next month?

Man, they really do want people to pay to play a beta.

Ehh I wouldn't call it a broken mess in its state now. It's leaps and bounds better then it was a year ago, hell even 3 months ago. It's about at that point where it would be worth paying the sub if it were to have launched. They are still releasing massive patches. Also the content that we're doing now in Eorzea apparently will not be repeatable because of the "calamity" that's too come.

Obviously one could look at it from the "beta" standpoint since they are releasing 2.0 in Nov but it has been a year. They probably want to cut down on server costs until then. They can charge those who do enjoy the game in its current state and make some revenue. Even if every person but 1 leaves, they are still making more money than they did before.

Just refuse to pay it until 2.0. At least they aren't charging PC owners for the 2.0 software. They are also giving us another 30 day free trial around that point.

I wonder how many people will think that it's a completely new release in 2012? I'd place bets that a lot of gamers don't even know there *is* a final fantasy XIV

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It wouldn't suprise me. Even though we know this isn't a completely "new" release. It kinda is. They have to remake mostly everything.

I have been playing for the past few months and i gotta say, i love it! I still love and play ffxi as well. I just got through with skimming through all the 2.0 features and I am absolutely impressed. The only crap thing is I now have to pay lol

something i did not notice at first, user created UI add-ons....basically they are saying 'please make a windowerffxiv' lol sounds awesome
