Forums - Sony - Everybody Dance vs Just Dance 3 (PS3)

I just went through my weekly flyers, and Zellers, Walmart and Futureshop are advertising Just Dance 3 as a Kinect/Wii exclusive. They only show the boxart for those 2 versions and say Kinect/Wii for the section. Talk about an advertising blunder..

PS3 version isn't out for a couple of months while the 360 and Wii versions are out today so having the PS3 version advertised would confuse people that don't know better and be a bigger blunder.

hmmm your right, i just check Amazon.ca and the Move version is slated for Nov 10th. I wonder why the 1 month delay from the other 2 versions..

Who knows.  If anything you would think the Kinect version would be the one out later since the PS3 and Wii versions should pretty much be the same minus the HD of course while the Kinect version isn't as similar as the Wii version.  Bigger question is what date is right for the PS3 version though.  Gamestop.ca & Amazon.com list December 31st, Gamestop.com list December 6th and then Amazon.ca is November 10th.  So thinking it will be December.  Personally getting it for 360 myself to kill time before Dance Central 2 so doesn't really impact me.  Still trying to decide on Everybody Dance.

i wish dance central would make it over...one of the very few games on the 360 that i wish so. don't really care about JD

it wouldnt work, the PSeye isnt anywhere near as accurate as the Kinect, so DC would suck on PS3

It really could work.  I have seen Kinect be innacurate with people with dresses and baggy jeans in Dance Central. It's no big deal. As there is no direct equivalent of user seeing themselves when it tells you your error either so its not like most would notice(because the people playing certainly didn't) as long as it's not off to often. You are too busy trying to groove and enjoying the social atmosphere. You could use move to help with checking for hand/arm movements.

Not to say that without M$'s software it wouldn't be more difficult to program for the camera but Just Dance is larger than Dance Central and even less accurate. I know people of people that prefer Just Dance and it's not because of accuracy. That's a core gamer thing YOU are worried about that most consumers aren't.  It's more like song selection and contetnt they prefer and with 2 main titles plus side games and cheaper prices the answer is superflous as to which sales attest. $190 for Kinect and DC versus every copy of JD available and extra wii motes at that price is a very compelling difference.

There is a strong argument that there isn't much of an audience for these games. However I would argue that simply because these games have really yet to appear with any backing even Sony's own offering was lackluster. People don't expect this software on PS3 because it hasn't been there for 4 years. You have to build an audience.  JD never sold amazing out of the gate. It was support and andvertising that built it to what it is. They were helped greatly by the Wii being the place people expect fun party games because that is where that type of software has appeared and been backed on that console.

In terms of accuracy your damn right, i as a core gamer cares about it. Not to sound piggish, but i could give a damn what some tenny bopper will accept. Im all for making the experience better. Which is why i prefer DC, I feel they actually tried with that game.

As for PS3, lets not kid ourselves, its way too late to build an audience for that. I would say the same for fighting games, WRPGS for Wii. People are not gonna wait for years to get the games they want to play, only misguided fanboys with a sense of "loyalty" does that. Most people want to play dancing games, they get the system that has it. You want FPSs, get the system that has it. ETC

Well I'm very grateful the market consists of more than just you and that companies realize this. For some people other things make the experience better.  There is room for more than your definition of a good experience. Numbers say they far outnumber you which just makes me feel better about humanity in general.

I'm not kidding myself.  Did you not read the last paragraph in my previous post? It's bolded in case you wanna scan it for comprehension.  Especially the last sentence.

I respect your outlook, but in this case i see it as the glass half empty. Im not saying my outlook is the end all be all. I just see it as people accepting the absoulute bare minimum, if thats what people want, thats damn ok with me. Im not saying dont make games, those games fund the games I actually want to play. Everyone wins.

The PS3 is not the place people expect fun party games, just like people arent expecting the Wii to have wall to wall shooters. Sony can advertise Everybody Dance till the cows come home, who in there right mind is going to spend 400 on a PS3 and MOve to play a game that they can either a) play something similar on the WIi they have or b) get a Wii that is half the price?? This kind of software has not been backed on this console, you really believe Sony will turn it around this late in the game?? Id be shocked if they sell half a mil lifetime

dancing games are not the new it. That's just silly talk.

I said it was the new "It" for groups or parties, like Rockband or Lips or Singstar a few years ago. Just something to have fun with some friends having a get together type thing, like how the Wii started out with people playing bowling etc.  I think Just Dance selling 6 million, Just Dance 2 selling 8 million + and Dance Central hitting it's stride last year proves that. Numbers don't lie, but thanks for your "silly" opinion and following what i asked in the thread...

Any dance game on the ps3 game is going to flop, that's not even a question. Most of those sales you speak of are probably wii sales.
