I wonder what Nvidia and ATI will show. Hopefully a new video card series that will put their current high end cards at a much better price.

Sony took it last year, maybe that new game roumered to match MGS4 is going to come into GDC? We will see.
2008 end of year predictions:
PS3: 22M
360: 25M
wii: 40M

You do get announcements at both GDC and CES but they're typically quite different than what you will see at E3 ...
As an example, Epic could demonstrate Gears of War 2 at GDC as a way of showing off enhancements and optimization of the Unreal 3 engine, Nintendo could demonstrate unconvention Wii games in a keynote on targeting new gamers, and Sony could demonstrate Killzone 2 in a discussion on designing your game to take advantage of the Cell processor ... They're (typically) announcements that are made to demonstrate their point, not (entirely) as a way to show off your future games.
Ugh, awesome find but it's disappointing. I don't care about floor space, what I care about is that it's going to be in two buildings again. I hated last year because I was frantically handing out my resume while juggling interviews and because things were in two buildings.
Actually, that could just be the upstairs and downstairs which isn't as bad (sorry, typing as I think about it). Last year they had one building that had an upstairs and downstairs and then another area in a building across the street which sucked giant balls. It was a pain to find anything and just wasn't cool.
Also, there generally aren't a lot of huge announcements at GDC since it isn't really that much of a press event. It's more of a giant job fair, a place for interesting keynotes and talks, and a place for developers to all get together and get hammered (they literally start serving drinks in the booths at 5 everyday).
And just looking a little closer at those pictures, I just remembered something: Epic and someone else (may have been MS) had huge areas like that last year.
They are pretty much big closed off cubicle like places where they just do a lot of interviews and meetings. Nothing really new. I bet if you get the complete floorplan of all the whole area (because I know that isn't it after looking closer) Epic and MS Game Studios will have a smaller normal booth.

Is anyone here going to GDC? I'll more than likely be there if so.

They typically just show demos (which are usually pretty cool) of how awesome their current stuff is and then give you a bag to hold swag in. Nothing new really.

Holy crap, GDC is in February this year? I thought it was going to be in March. Going to be using a lot of vacation days in February... (sorr, kind of reading the thread backwards today-- no idea why)
Microsoft did recently re-announce their next OS.. GDC would be perfect to show that off for PC devs. I doubt that M$ will be showing off that much. E3 is stil where 90% of all announcements will be made like usual. Major announcements will be during their press conference.
Valve, will show off early demos of their new engine.
Nvidia, will show off the 9800GTS, and 9800 GTX.
Havok will have their new engine shown off.
Sony, will just show trailers and maybe have a few demos of games just to update people on progress. Major announcements will be during their press conference anyways. Will release new and improved dev tools.
Nintendo's Major announcements will be during their press conference.
AMD, who cares..
Intel - QX9770!!!
Epic - UE4

yea but.... I want an Nvidia, Ati, Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo bag to hold stuff in...
Wait, is valve making a new engine? I mean, they've mainly been just doing enhancements with Source.

I agree with almost everything, except I must say that there is little chance that Epic will move away from the Unreal 3 engine for a couple of years; the most likely place to find a new engine would be from id because the Doom 3 engine is getting pretty old and wasn't that impressive when it was released.
